My name is Jessica Luteran, I am the new school counselor here at Hackettstown Middle School. I have been in school counseling for 10 years. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Arcadia University and a Masters in School Counseling and Student Assistance Counselor Certification from The College of New Jersey.
My role at HMS is to help the students learn not only to be the best students they can be but the best humans they can be! We all know there is a lot of stuff that goes into learning besides what’s in the books. My job is to help the students and teachers with this other stuff. I provide classroom lessons in the areas of character education, social emotional learning, drugs and alcohol, harassment intimidation and bullying, conflict resolution, coping skills and anger management. I also conduct individual and small group sessions during the school day and through google meets to help with more specific issues. Later on in the year I will be working with students for scheduling next year’s classes as well as transition into high school for the 8th graders.
There are plenty of ways for you and your students to get in touch with me if need be.
Phone: (908) 852-8554 x 3324
Google Chat: Jessica Luteran, I always have my google chat window open so you can just search for me and start a conversation. I will respond as soon as I get the notification.
Google Meet: I am happy to meet with you or your student any time. Feel free to contact me to request I setup a google meet for us, or invite me to a google meet through google calendar.
I will be meeting each student individually through google meets (this includes all virtual students) to get to know them and give them the opportunity to get to know me.
If I am with another parent, a student, in a class or a meet I will not respond right away. I will respond as soon as I can give you my undivided attention as you and your student deserve that.
If contacted during outside school hours
(8:10-3:05) I will respond the next school day.
If it is a true emergency please call 911 before contacting me.
