Health & Physical Education

All students at Hackettstown Middle School will participate in a comprehensive, sequential health and physical education program that emphasizes the natural interdisciplinary connection among wellness, health and physical education.  New Jersey State Administrative Code (18A:35-5,7-8), requires all students to receive a minimum of 150 minutes of health, safety, and physical education per week, prorated for school holidays.

• Extended medical exemptions (three days or longer) from participating in the Physical Education activities must be provided in writing from the student's physician to the school nurse.  The documentation needs to state the medical reason, length of exemption, and any restrictions or limitations. Any student that is on an approved extended medical exemption will be provided an alternative assignment to receive credit for the physical education class.
