Experience:

I share the community’s commitment for student safety as we strive to create a nurturing and supportive environment while balancing and maintaining rigorous instruction. As an elementary and middle school educator, I have had the pleasure of teaching young learners from kindergarten through eighth grade.

For the past year, I had the honor of being Vice Principal at Emma Havens Young Elementary School in Brick. Before that, I have worn many hats as a teacher and teacher leader. I taught 6th grade language arts at Eisenhower Intermediate School in Bridgewater for a number of years before moving to 4th grade special education. I took on leadership roles of teacher leader at Adamsville Elementary and Special Education Trainor at the district level.

Educational Philosophy:

My philosophy as an educator is to see each child as the unique individual they are and provide an accepting and nurturing environment in which they can learn to their fullest potential.  I will honor and respect their individuality as I raise their self-esteem and empower them to believe in themselves and take risks in their learning.  I will keep my expectations high as I enable our students to achieve both academic and social goals that will prepare them for the 21st century. I will hold my staff, teachers, and students responsible for meeting these expectations.

I believe in stepping outside of your comfort zone and learning from the diverse students I will have in my school.  In order to understand the differences between each of my students, I will be open minded and challenge myself to incorporate students’ culture into the culture of our school. The schools of students should be a window and mirror; a peak into their lives but also a reflection back at them.  I aim to encourage a sense of wonderment in the world around us for my students.
